iHeartRadio Tops Twitter’s Trends of 2015
Hashtags are everywhere — from #tbt to #nofilter photos and even #Twitter itself, almost every thought shared online is being organized with a hashtag. And with all of these topics, ever wonder which hashtags took over Twitter in the biggest way this year? Well, Twitter just released top trending topics of 2015 and guess who made the cut?
That’s right: this year, iHeartRadio secured the No. 7 spot on Twitter’s Top Music Trending List of 2015 with #iHeartAwards, the hashtag associated with iHeartRadio Music Awards, an event that celebrates the hottest music and artists heard across iHeartMedia’s broadcast radio stations as well as on iHeartRadio.
#iHeartAwards generated more than 14 billion social media impressions throughout the promotional period of the show, nearly 75 percent more than last year's 8.5 billion and almost triple that of the Academy Awards. On top of that, the event was also one of the first ever to engage fans through live behind-the-scenes Twitter Periscope broadcasts.
If you’re looking to get in on the conversation next year, we recently announced the iHeartRadio Music Awards will return on Sunday, April 3, 2016 and will feature a live broadcast across three networks: TBS, TNT and truTV. The awards will also broadcast live on iHeartMedia's radio stations nationwide. More details to come, but fans should ready those thumbs to use #iHeartAwards and take over Twitter once again!
