iHeartRadio’s Data Download: June Insights
At iHeartRadio, it’s no secret that music is our thing. And with over 70 million registered users—not to mention all of the unregistered users tuning in, too), we also have some pretty cool insights about listening trends—things like the songs, artists and stations music fans across the country are jamming to on a daily basis.
In this post, we’ve pulled together the best insider insights from the month of June to share in a new series called Data Download. Each month, we’ll be pulling and sharing listening data to give you a taste of what’s hot across the iHeartRadio platform—from the most popular listener-created stations to the most in-demand podcasts, and even a glimpse into changes in listening habits from one device to another.
Intrigued? Without further ado, here’s what dominated the iHeartRadio soundwaves over the past month.
Taylor Swift solidified her status as reigning queen of pop. T.Swift wasn’t just the number one artist in NY, LA, Austin and Nashville (according to user-created stations), her hit single “Bad Blood” was also the leading song in the nation (also based on user-created stations). And that’s not all—she was the top artist across every device we tracked (Web, iOS, Android and Windows)!
Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth) also got a lot of love from iHeartRadio listeners. The emotional track was the top song in Nashville, Austin and LA, and only slightly trailed Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” when it came to the number of Station Creates.
We also looked at data from our “Perfect For” stations to see what listeners were most in the mood for throughout June. The results? A split between throwback tunes, high-energy tracks and chill out music: 50 Minute Workout, All 70s, All 80s, Caffeinated Country and Sounds of the Ocean were the most popular “Perfect For” stations over the past month.
As for podcasts, The Bobby Bones Show had the most listeners, followed by Rover’s Morning Glory on Demand, Elvis Duran on Demand, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis and The Glenn Beck Program.
