Artist of the Week: Jax Jones
You might not immediately recognize the name, but you’ve definitely heard the sounds. From singles like “Yeah Yeah Yeah” and “House Works,” Jax Jones has had a whirlwind year and we were lucky enough to catch up in NYC to talk about his new hit single “You Don’t Know Me” and upcoming music.
The London-based DJ and producer got his start working in London’s music scene as a session guitarist and music director. While he had been making beats since his teenage years, he didn’t commit professionally until after college.
A chance introduction to Duke Dumont took Jones’ career to the next level as he was able to contribute to Dumont’s songs and upcoming album. By 2015, Jones had credits on three of Dumont’s singles including “I Got U,” for which Jones and Dumont earned a Grammy nomination.
Jones then worked on making his own music and the hits soon followed. “House Work,” a playful, flirty number made waves first in the U.K. before coming to the U.S., followed shortly by “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” Oh, and we should mention that “Yeah Yeah Yeah,” appeared in a Southwest Airlines commercial, and last September, it played during the 2016 FIFA Soccer games.
Needless to say we absolutely love “You Don’t Know Me” and can’t wait to hear what the DJ and producer has in store for his next single.
