#NewMusicTuesday: Cardi B, “Bodak Yellow”

Former Love & Hip Hop: New York reality TV star, Cardi B, has recently taken the city by storm with her musical prowess. Her breakout single, “Bodak Yellow,” currently sits at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 list and has steadily climbed in popularity over the past month.

As Cardi B continues to top the charts, we were curious to see which cities were spinning her track the most since its June debut. We found that close to 54 percent of the Bronx native’s total radio spins have come from New York City, 18 percent from Atlanta and 13 percent from Chicago. This data indicates that the birthplace of hip-hop, despite a brief hiatus, is making a comeback churning out more and more influential artists. You can check out the full details in The Fader, here.

Often compared to Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown, Cardi B's rap style is unfiltered — she has no problem speaking about what's on her mind! Her new hit single also borrows from Kodak Black’s 2014 song “No Flockin,” imitating the rhymes and rhythms of that popular track. And for the next two months, you can hear unlimited Cardi B tunes like “Bodak Yellowon demand for just 99 cents — happy listening!
