Artist of the Week: Billie Eilish

Happy New Year, listeners—and what a year of music 2019 is shaping up to be! If you haven’t yet heard of Billie Eilish, get caught up now because she’s making a splash in a major way. On our list of Artists to Watch in 2019, Eilish broke out onto the music scene in 2017 with the release of her debut EP Don't Smile at Me. Since then, the artist has found her unique electropop sound, made even more distinct by the almost whisper-like quality of her voice.

Her last U.S. tour, Where’s My Mind, sold out in just minutes last year and she has maintained her momentum throughout 2018. Her single, “you should see me in a crown,” currently sits among the Top 10 on ALT Radio Charts. The song was inspired by a catchy line from the BBC show Sherlock and here’s another fun fact: the opening sounds actually come from a recording of Eilish’s father sharpening knives.
