Artist of the Week: Twenty One Pilots
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Twenty One Pilots consists of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Joseph, along with drummer Josh Dun. After several years of touring and independent releases, the duo gained momentum in the mid-2010s with release of their first major label album, Vessel.
But Twenty One Pilots’ breakout success came in 2015 with the album Blurryface— a tour-de-force of alternative hip hop that feels like the perfect hybrid of The Weeknd and Linkin Park. Singles including “Stressed Out” and “Ride” gave the group international recognition for their unique style and sound. In addition, the single “Heathens” was recorded for the soundtrack of the blockbuster film, Suicide Squad, making Twenty One Pilots the first alternative artist to have to simultaneous top 10 singles in the States.
Twenty One Pilots have had an incredible string of success and is nominated for Song of the Year (“Stressed Out”), Alternative Rock Song of the Year (“Ride”), and Best Duo / Group of the Year at our upcoming 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards!
