Artist of the Week: Billie Eilish
To say that Billie Eilish — our queen of dark pop — had a great year in 2019 would be an understatement. In addition to a show-stopping performance at Coachella, the chart-topping singer made history last year by becoming the youngest artist ever to be nominated for four of the most popular Grammy categories: Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Bad Guy.” She was also nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
And while fans across the nation collectively lost their minds to the beat of “Bad Guy” this past summer, Eilish has made it clear that she’s just getting started: Eilish is already up for seven awards at the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards and will be performing at iHeartRadio ALTer Ego 2020. What’s more, she recently designed and launched a sustainable clothing line with fashion retailer H&M. Eilish is known for her unique style, and her new line is authentically modeled after signature baggy clothes and statement bucket hats.
And that’s not all: Eilish recently announced she’s been selected to record the theme song for the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die. She will be the youngest artist ever to write and record a title song for a James Bond film. Eilish gushed about the opportunity to Rolling Stone, saying: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”
Make no mistake: Eilish’s star is only rising higher and higher, and we’ll be rooting for our favorite “bad guy” for years to come!
