Artist of the Week: Of Monsters and Men
Icelandic indie pop band Of Monsters and Men finally released their third album last Friday, titled Fever Dream! Have you checked it out yet? It’s been three years since the band’s last album and fans have been waiting anxiously for their favorite high-energy indie group to get back on the world’s stages.
In May, the band released the first single off the album, “Alligator.” It’s a wonderfully over-the-top orchestral song with a heavy bass line and epic guitar solos. The band’s lead singer, Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir, commented on the single saying, “We are so excited about ‘Alligator,’ the first release from our upcoming album. The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.
While writing Fever Dream, Hilmarsdóttir found that she had grown tired of writing songs on an acoustic guitar. It “brought out things in me that were predictable,” she explained, and so she decided to try something new. This time around she decided to work on a laptop in the privacy of her own home and found herself using it to play with new sounds and genres. As a result of this change, Fever Dream is a much brighter album than other Of Monsters and Men records. Get ready to dance along to this album for the rest of the year!
iHeartRadio LIVE and Verizon are also bringing fans a live performance from Of Monsters and Men this coming Monday, so be sure to check it out! And while you wait, stream Fever Dream on iHeartRadio now!
